North Cascades Farmhouse

The way of AirBnB’s are changing for the better, thanks to the storytelling ideas of Riparide and creators around the globe. Thankfully, farmhouse owner, Melissa, knew this and invited me to tell the story of her beautiful renovated 1916 farmhouse that she brought back to life. Nestled in the foothills of the North Cascade mountains, the house is on 40 acres with the cutest shetland cow, next door to the Skagit River, and a short distance away from the most stunning outdoor locations the state has to offer.

As we entered the Skagit Valley at the peak of autumn, we made an inaugural visit to Gordon Skagit Farms to delight our senses and get us in the most autumnal mood. What a delight! Upon arrival, we toured the house, then shared a picnic beneath an old apple tree. The weather could not have been more perfect. From there, we took a short drive to the Skagit River and walked along the bank and across a bridge over the river, watched an eagle fly overhead, fish jump, and leaves slowly drift down and float away.

The rest of the afternoon was so peaceful and restful as we walked the roads and took in the views, then lit a fire in the seating area in the backyard, sipped cider, and watched the sun go down. I could not get over the expansive views of the North Cascade mountains surrounding the house.
