Easter, Another Way

Easter has been one of my favorite holidays for as long as I can remember. It’s one of the most beautiful times of year, and I feel so much life flooding me, I can barely breathe. I’m reminded, every April, that the world is truly a beautiful place and every bit of labor I put into planting hundreds of bulbs in the fall as they turn into stunning petals with hues of every color. you can imagine. But it’s not the flowers that I love that most this time of year, it’s seeing large barren trees begin to leaf, the cherry blossoms in full bloom, and the sunshine more days than not.

This year, instead of church with my Mother-in-Law and a family dinner, it was a quiet affair at home. We took to tending projects we wanted to continue, slow meaningful dishes prepared with our children, and our Sunday best just because we could. I actually thought of not even taking out my camera, as my heart sank at the though of my MIL home on her own this year, the glazed ham and her favorite potatoes we wouldn’t be sharing with her. But, I remembered my gratitude for all I did have, and we made sure to call our loved ones, to laugh together, to come together at the table and enjoy our meal, and to document our day and relive the beauty we were given.
